Antica Corona Reale.Restaurant in Piemonte

Once upon a time…

a family living in Cervere, a small village in Piemonte, in a country house where two hundred years ago they opened a tavern offering good food and good wine.
It was the year 1855 when Alessandro Vivalda gave his family name to this place…

…You believe that I’m telling you a fairy tale about princesses kissing frogs?

Not at all! Even if we are talking about “Royals”, here, in this place, we can eat frogs for real!
Yes! Because fried mountain frogs are one of the specialties of “L’Antica Corona Reale” Restaurant which – this year – is 200 years old!

After Alessandro Vivalda, Eugenio came and, then, Renzo up to nowdays when Gian Piero preserves his culinary inheritance with dishes such as snails from Cherasco with leeks from Cervere, apples and rosehip jam or the famous “Finanziera” in double cooking which even today Renzo prepares cooking it passionately.

Gian Piero proposes also other special dishes typical of Piemonte, the local region and of Cuneo the local province and, from time to time he cooks out-of-the-region specialties…

He is extremely attentive both to the form and to the raw material, using only fresh products from his own garden and offering a varied and authentic cuisine.

I recommend you to book your table well in advance,HERE, especially on October and November, as this is the season of the white truffle from Alba, where there is the annual International Truffle Fair which leaves a lasting memory to every visitor willing to dive in a unique and luscious air.

This fall season my favourite dishes are:

To start: millefeuille of squared peppers, Cantabrian sea anchovies and roasted eggplant.
Followed by “tajarin”, a pasta made of 35 egg yolk, with mountain butter and Alba white truffles…
And a special egg casserole with white truffle to follow…

What else can I say?

L’Antica Corona Reale is not only a restaurant with 2 Michelin stars , not only an outstanding culinary experience with a warm staff and an excellent sommelier: for me this is the place where I find my friends…the true, genuine friends…as well as a place with a genuine, family tradition deep rooted in a restaurant which, on October 10th has officially entered the exclusive “Les Grandes Tables du Monde” club: yes, my friends, l’Antica Corona Reale is among the best 200 restaurants in the world!
